1940s Movado Ermeto Calendarmeto

The Movado Ermeto was originally designed in the 1920s, and was produced until the 1960s. From 1927 on, the watch took on a very unique approach to winding. It can be wound through the crown, of course, but is also would by the simple act of opening and closing the case. There are two opposing rails, that when the case is opened and closed, spin the center mounted crown. It is reported that it takes just SIX opening and closings of the case to wind the watch enough for 24 hours of operation.

Ultimately, there were roughly 40 different submodels of the Ermeto produced. The largest of which was an 8 Day travel clock called the Pullman. This version is the second largest version, measuring 76mm wide, by 36mm tall when open. The case is adorned in it’s original, rich dark brown crocodile leather, which is still in excellent condition with no tears or wear through.

This particular model is called the Movado Ermeto Calendarmeto. It features a pop-out stand that allow it to be used as a desk or nightstand clock. It also features a triple calendar (Day, Date, and Month) AND Moonphase. I have not serviced this watch, but it appears to be running QUITE well. In the last four days it has stayed accurate with 1:30.

All functions work…timekeeping, day advance, date advance, month advance, and moonphase advance, as well as the both methods of winding.

This is sure to be a crown jewel in anyone’s collection. This appears to be among the rarest of all of the Ermeto Models. The approximate date of production is 1940.

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.

We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust light, when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.

The condition is pre-owned.
The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended.
See all the photos, feel free to ask questions if you have any.

It will be carefully packed.
